RST CE Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

This section of the RSTCE web site is to act as a point of reference for individuals who have questions regarding RSTCE. The FAQ is set up in sections, and by topics. These topics reflect some of the most frequently asked questions. If you do not find the answer to your question in the FAQ sections, please feel free to contact us through the (Contact Us: http://www.rstce.pitt.edu/RSTCE_contact.html) web page. Comments are also welcome regarding your RSTCE and learning experience.

1: Applications to Certify a Program for CEUs

Questions in this Section:

 


Q: What qualifies as a measurable learning objective?

A: Written learning outcomes will clearly identify the specific behavior in as few words as possible while ensuring measurability.

Learning outcomes have four characteristics:

  1. They state the performance the learner should be able to accomplish.
  2. They specify the conditions under which the learner is to perform.
  3. They specify the criteria for acceptable performance.
  4. They are directly related to the subject matter/content of the learning event.

Presenters will avoid all vague language, such as “understand,” “knows,” “demonstrates knowledge of,” etc. Bloom’s taxonomy will be used to devise learning objectives that serve as the learning outcomes. Consideration should also be given to ensure that the number of learning outcomes is sufficient for the length and content of the program.

The RSTCE Program minimum recommendations are three learning objectives for a one-hour program and one additional objective for each additional hour of the presentation.

Examples:


Q: How much is the application fee?

A: Each individual application is $350.
Up to 5 courses or lectures are bundled into this one application and fee.
Any courses beyond the 5,has an additional $25 fee if submitted at the same time under the same application.  See the following example;

Program Total Cost = $400
Additional programs will NOT be accepted after 30 days of the day the application was submitted.

Q: What do I need provide after the program is completed?

A: Provide an Electronic Spreadsheet for each session, which includes the following attendee information:


Q: Who generates the CEU Certificate of Attendance after the program is over?

A: The Applicant that hosts/conducts the program is responsible for creating the CEU Certificate of Attendance for the attendees.


Q: What information do I need to add to the program-marketing brochure and to the Course Certificates?

A: Please include the following paragraph on both the brochure and certificate:

The University of Pittsburgh, Department of Rehabilitation Science & Technology (RST CE) is certifying the educational contact hours of this program and by doing so, is in no way endorsing any specific content, company, or product. The information presented in this program may represent only a sample of appropriate interventions. Each person should claim only those hours of credit that he or she actually spent in the educational activity.


Q: How far in advance should I send in my course application and materials for review?

A: Applicants should send in their documents at least 6-8 weeks in advance.  Applications received less than 6 weeks in advance of the program cannot be guaranteed a completed review prior to the start date.  Turnaround time for application evaluation and approval usually takes less than 2 weeks however will fluctuate depending on volume .

Q: Where can I find a list of RSTCE courses or programs?

A: A complete list of On-Demand Webinars can be found by clicking on the On-Demand Webinars tab on the left side of the RSTCE website or by going to: http://www.rstce.pitt.edu/RSTCE_Webinar/RSTCE_Webinar.html.

Q: Can I view the online course more than once?

A: Webinar presentations are self paced, and you can easily navigate from one section to another and go back to review the material again.


Q: I took the post-test but didn't pass. Can I take it again?

A: Exams must be taken within one year of receipt of course. A passing score of 80% or higher is required to receive CEUs. Exams may be retaken up to three times without additional charge.


Q: How long will I have access to an online course?

A: Your registration fee provides online access to the course for number of days outlined in the course description. The days you will have online access is based on the date of the initial receipt of purchase.


Q: Where should I mail my payment?

A: If you wish to send a payment as a check, cashier's check or money order through regular mail or courier (i.e. FedEx, UPS, DHL), please make the payment payable to the
University of Pittsburgh and send it to:

3: Computer and IT

Q: Will I be able to access the online course from home and/or work computer? 

A: Participants can log in and view a webinar from anywhere with internet access—work, home, or even a hotel room.


Q: How do I turn off pop up blockers?

A: Each browser application allows you to turn on and off your pop up blockers differently. Basic information on how to perform this for the three more popular web-browser applications (i.e. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari) are provided on the RST CE Help page at: http://www.rstce.pitt.edu/RSTCE_Help.html. Most browser applications also have good built-n help tools.


Q: I cannot view the video on the Media Site Live presentation?

A: First try running the test presentation on your computer at (http://shrs2.shrs.pitt.edu/Mediasite/Viewer/?peid=
c09afe707e1a4794a4a0042a6332143a
). Look at the information about this topic on the RST CE Help page at: http://www.rstce.pitt.edu/RSTCE_Help.html. Some additional things that would be helpful for troubleshooting this problem would be to try to use a different computer within your location to see if you can connect as well as trying to connect from your home computer.  Note that some organizations have firewalls that block streaming video.

4: Database (RST CE Source)

Q: How do I access my account?

A: You can access your account information after you have logged into the RST CE database at: http://www.rstce.org/fmi/iwp/res/iwp_login.html


Q: What if I forgot my password?

A: If you want to log into your account but forgot your password just go to the log in page for the database and select forgot password. Your password will be sent to your e-mail address.


Q: What is my Username?

A: Your user name is the e-mail address you used when you set up your account. You can change your user name to a different e-mail address, but you first must log in under your old username to then change to your new information in the (Edit User Profile section).  If you forgot your username and none of your known email addresses work, you will need to contact RSTCE. 


Q: What should I do if my contact information has changed?

A: Log into the database with your username and password. You can change your user name and your contact information by going to the Edit User Profile section and make the changes to your profile.
