Jamie Noon of Jamie Noon Design, Santa Fe, NM
After studying fine art, Jamie Noon spent the next 23 years involved in custom seating and mobility services and developing innovative seating products for commercial markets in the US and abroad. In the mid 1990’s, he worked as a Seating and Mobility Clinician with the Rehabilitation Engineering Center at Stanford Children's Hospital. Through Noon Designs, he consults to commercial and not for profit organizations throughout the world. With Beneficial Designs, through two grants from the National Institutes of Health, Jamie developed the “Hip Grip”, a dynamic pelvic stabilization device, now available in the US and Europe from BodyPoint Designs.

Jamie has provided clinical and technical training and designs in countries including Russia, Romania, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nicaragua, Colombia, Mexico, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Vietnam, China, the Philippines. He is a contributor to current development of an International Wheelchair Guideline for developing countries, coordinated by the World Health Organization. Jamie has been instrumental in developing and conducting several certificate training courses in seating and mobility which continue to be used worldwide.

Description

This webinar will explain, in depth, various common and uncommon materials used in support surfaces for wheelchair riders who use pressure relief cushions or postural supports. We will explore the unique physical properties of materials as well as their performance from a clinical perspective.

Learning Objectives

Upon attending this seminar, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the function of 4 elements of a postural support device
  2. List 15 to 30 common materials and their use in support surfaces
  3. Explain the unique performance and properties of 10 key materials

  3. Log into the RST CE database and select post test and evaluations. (using the email address and password that you created prior to the viewing).
  4. Select and complete the course post test and evaluation.
  5. Click Submit

You will receive your CEU Certificate via emailed pdf.
