Kendra Betz, MSPT, ATP, Prosthetics Clinical Coordinator, VA Central Office

Kendra Betz is a Physical Therapist and RESNA certified Assistive Technology Provider (ATP) who has worked for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) since 1993. Kendra is currently the Prosthetics Clinical Coordinator for the Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service, VA Central Office. In this role, she provides national clinical oversight for adaptive equipment, assistive technologies and medical devices provided to Veterans receiving VHA healthcare benefits. Kendra holds an adjunct faculty position at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Rehabilitation Science and Technology, teaches regularly at national and international forums, and has contributed to many articles and chapters on topics related to rehabilitation and assistive technologies. Kendra was inducted into the National Spinal Cord Injury Association Hall of Fame in 2008, was named VA Employee of the Year by the Air Force Association in 2009, and received the inaugural Clinical Excellence Award from the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals in 2010.

Description:

Within Veterans Health Administration (VHA), the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service (PSAS) provides any and all assistive technology, adaptive equipment, and medical devices utilized by the Veteran in home and community environments. This session provides an overview of the structure and role of PSAS in the provision of adaptive technologies for Veterans and active duty Service members treated in the VA Polytrauma system of care. PSAS resources and policies are reviewed, clinical practice recommendations are highlighted, and strategies for clinical collaboration with PSAS are shared.

Learning objectives:

Upon attending this seminar, participants will be able to:

  • Identify at least two internet resources for VA Prosthetic & Sensory Aids (PSAS) policies and documentation related to provision of Assistive Technology;
  • Describe the structure and role of PSAS in Assistive Technologies for VA Polytrauma clients and other eligible Veterans.
  • Explain the application of Clinical Practice Recommendation (CPR) documents to support appropriate prescription of technologies and provision of associated education and training.
  • Identify the client population who is eligible to receive Electronic Cognitive Devices.

  5. Click Submit

You will receive your CEU Certificate via emailed pdf.
