The RSTCert is an online certificate designed for any person who needs a fundamental yet comprehensive understanding of the field of assistive technology. This includes but is not limited to rehabilitation clinicians (occupational therapist and physical therapist), other healthcare personnel (physician and nurses), consumers, families, researchers, suppliers, manufacturers, policy makers and third party payers. The course also assists people who need a review of the fundamentals as part of their preparation for the RESNA Assistive Technology Professional and/or Seating & Mobility Specialist (SMS) certification. The certificate is built upon our comprehensive curricula on rehabilitation technology. The certificate program takes around 8 months to complete and blends online learning including a core didactic course and associated activities, with a 1 1/2 day onsite hands-on training in Pittsburgh, PA. This course has been certified for 3.2 CEU (32 contact hours) by RSTCE at The University of Pittsburgh.
 
The course applies case studies, evidence-based practice, and best-practice guidelines throughout with specific assistive technology modules including:

 

How is the course set-up?

Each module contains a link(s) to 60-90 minute video lectures, a downloadable hand-out, and links to additional readings and resources. Each module requires a commitment of 2-4 hours/month. Participants can view online lectures on your own time, while participating in online study groups. There will also be monthly recitations via conference call for follow-up questions and case study work. Classes start Fall of 2015 and ends Spring 2016. Cost of the course is $899.00, but space is limited (40 applicants). Previous participants have a 100% pass rate on the RESNA ATP Exam.
