Ashli M. Molinero, D.Sc. – Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Science and Technology (RST) at the University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.

She received her D.Sc. degree in information systems and communications and her M.Ed. degree in instructional design and technology. Her experience includes teaching information systems analysis and design and e-business strategies at both undergraduate and graduate levels, accessible web design for people with disabilities, and co-teaching ethics for health related professions. She joined the Department of Rehabilitation Science and Technology in 2007 to participate in the knowledge translation activities of not only the department of the Rehabilitation Engineering Research Centers on Telerehabilitation, Spinal Cord Injury and Wheelchair Transportation Safety.

Social Networking tools such as Facebook and Twitter offer many opportunities for keeping up to date with professional organizations, sharing information related to disability research, clinical best practices, and advocacy for people with disabilities. However, harnessing the power of social networking is uniquely challenging for rehabilitation professionals. Professional codes of conduct warn about dual relationships, privacy and confidentiality, all of which are at risk when connecting with clients and coworkers through social networks. Avoiding the blurring of professional and personal relationships online is crucial. Guidelines for maintaining a professional profile and effectively managing your online social network will be presented.

  3. Select Post Tests and Evaluations
  4. Select and complete the course post test and evaluation
  5. Select Submit
